Vintage Fabrics

Whilst on holidays in South Australia I picked up a wonderful selection of vintage fabrics from second hand stores. County opportunity shops are truly amazing places, there is a real sense of community and generosity. One particular store had the most treasured sewing room, filled to the brim with fabrics, trims, buttons and findings. It was heaven!! Run by a sweet 80 year old lady named Vera it was such a pleasure to talk with her and to share in her appreciation for sewing. Here are some of my gems.....

Bobo Choses

"Once upon a time there lived an old donkey on Okinawa Island, who fell asleep every night looking up at the moon."

Bobo Choses is a wonderful label based in Barcelona (so many great things come from Spain, oh how I loved that city!) their designs are bright, bold and orginal. They also have a social awearness, with garments being made in places such as Bangladesh were workers are given the opportunity to learn valuable skills, with 10 % of Bobo sales going back to the community.  The entire collection can be checked out here.

Soother Tree

I know there will come a time when little Charley will have to say good night one last time to his soother before it joins the many other lost dummys of this world. I had my own soother, a security blanket made from a scrap of my mothers dressing gown. Sadly, the removal company took it whilst we moved house, or so I thought for many years. Turns out, Mum and Dad had decided it was time to say good by to 'Ruggy' and so it joined the other blankets in soother heaven. I hope it found a happy home like this soother tree. Tea Anyone?

I don't mind the odd cup of tea, how sweet would it be to invite a friend over for a cup and spoil them with these hand made tea bags. Such a nice gift idea. Found on Happy Things Blog by Ocechou

Clever Clothing - BASTIDA

Combine cute kids clothes, ingenious design, and sustainability and what do you get? Bastida. Alicia from Barcelona has created a wonderful concept jacket and pant that grow with your child. With the use of zippers and folds these garments transform from age 6 months to 3 years. Very exciting, considering the amount of clothes little ones wear for such a limited time.

Made by Joel

I hope that I too can inspire my children the way Joel, from Made by Joel does with his sweet craft projects.
Charley is a little too young to understand the fun of making modern doll hoses, finger puppets or slot cards just yet, but believe me, together we will be crafting up sweet toys like Joel and his kids in no time. Thank you Joel for your inspirational site it is a real joy.
