Then&Now 1950's sun dress
.
As promised here is the first Then&Now.
Here is an ultra cute 1950's girls summer dress, made from a recycled European pillow case (I had just enough fabric to complete the patttern, phew!)

Children's Sewing
I have always loved sewing, I can still remember my first foray into dressmaking when I would artistically patch together new barbie outfits from my mums sewing off cuts. Since those early hand stitched days, I have gone on to complete my Bachelor of Fashion Design RMIT where I learnt the skills of pattern making and cutting.
When ever I am hunting though my local opp shops I am thrilled when i find old sewing patterns. I love the fact that somebody, somewhere once used these templates, I wonder what ever happened to these garments?
Here is a pic of some of my recent Children's finds.
I will be posting some Then and Now segments which will show what I have made from these gorgeous old patterns. I hope you like them.
Sister Act - Vintage Stationary
My sister is one of the most creative souls I know (Love you Renee), she can turn any old thing into something shiny, beautiful and new. She recently inherited a collection of vintage German fashion magazines ranging from the 1940's to 1980's. Like me, we share a fascination with hoarding, or as I like to say "cherishing" (much to our husbands dislike for lack of storage space). She has crafted the sweetest stationary from these treasures including handmade cards for all occasions, envelopes and soon to come writing papers.
Among Renee's many talents is her range of vintage button accessories which are hand crafted from stunning pieces of antique sewing materials under her label Mai Swan. Her pieces are all one offs with no two pieces a like. She uses the most beautiful objects including bakelite buckles, glass and wooden buttons, found items and recycled materials. Some heralding from the 1920's and even earlier!
My favorite is the antique gold knitting gauge brooch, complete with glass gnome and diamonte buttons pictured above.
Craft Hatch, Craft Victoria Markets
I have been lucky enough to secure a spot at the coming 'Craft Hatch' artist market run by Craft Victoria which features emerging designers. Sat 13th Feb City Library, 253 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, 11.00am – 4.00pm. I look forward to seeing you all there.
Have a sneak peak at some of the exhibitors at the Craft Hatch link. Should be a great day!
Cushions, Cushions Galore!
I recently held a stall at the ever popular Camberwell Markets. I am not fond of early mornings, but thankfully the good weather was on our side and it turned out to be a great day. Lots of people enjoyed looking at my 'Odds and Ends'. Bec from Little Shop of handmade in Carnegie has offered to stock my wares, so I'll keep you posted with more updates when it goes in store.
Many lovely people liked my range of handmade cushions, within minutes my favorite Robot design was scooped up, sadly I didn't get to photograph him so I can't share it with you all. But will be making another one shortly.
Here is a few pictures of the collections. All are hand embroidered, embellished are fully lined and close with a sturdy zipper.
Orders are welcome, or if you like what you see please comment and I will happily sell them (if in stock).
Odds and Ends - Cactus wonderland
I am certainly no green thumb, I have sent many herb gardens to an early grave. However, I love fresh flowers and indoor plants, but do not dare bring them into my home for fear of killing them. PROBLEM solved! I've been knitting these lovely cactus over the past weeks, perfect for those who forget to water and don't know the first thing about pruning. I love the 3 round succulent design. I intend to sell these babies, but might just have to keep him for myself.

I'm Back and now a Mum :
After many, many months away from this blog I am so happy to have returned. It has been so long and so much has happened. I have long finished uni, got a wonder fashion industry job and now my best creation ever...my baby boy Charley!
I have found my mojo again and will be posting (fingers crossed daily, if the little man will let me) with all my inspirational images, thoughts and findings from this crazy land we call home.
